26 August 2022. We're heading into fall with a lovely clothing collection in store for you. New colors, shapes, and some updated versions of Fog Linen Work classics have us looking forward to the change of season, even as we say a bittersweet goodbye to summer.
This fall's colors are deep and moody, putting us in mind of the paintings of Vermeer and the Dutch Masters. Vert, a forest green, Peacock, a strong teal blue and Canari, a wheat yellow are just a few of our favorites this season. We're also welcoming some new shapes and styles that are as fun as they are versatile. Many pieces play with conventional notions of fall clothing: sleeveless tops with open tie sides that can be worn over layers, dresses that double as duster coats, a short sleeved coat vest in a heavier weight linen to keep you warm and show off the sleeves of your favorite sweater...these are the details of this fall's collection that we are really appreciating. Something a little different to mix things up.
What we're loving:
The Rosie Top: This little piece is so much fun. A sleeveless bib top with open sides that tie under the arm, Rosie can be worn over anything to add a new dimension to your outfit, not to mention a little warmth on a cool day. We've experimented with tying the ties back to front for a more cinched look as well. In Acier and Black.
The Selena Overdress: A longer version of the Rosie Top, this lovely take on an apron dress and can be worn over dresses, skirts, leggings, pants...you choose. The sides are open, letting your under layers peek through. The waist cinches with ties at each side so you can customize the fit to your figure. It's a modern take on an old fashioned idea: protecting your clothing, adding a layer of warmth, and giving any outfit a new look. In Peacock, with Natural coming later this fall.
The Alyssa Gilet: A short sleeved over coat that will become a fall staple around here. Easy to wear over sweaters, shirts, dresses...we love how the short sleeve allows you to show off your under layer with less bulk than a long sleeved coat. We're picturing our favorite fall sweater sleeves being on display. Alyssa buttons at the side of the collar, while the body of the coat is free for ease of movement. In Grey Blue and Black.
The Scarlett Dress: A shirt dress that doubles as a duster coat, Scarlett can be worn on its own or as a versatile layering piece. In two really lovely colors, Vert and Ciel.
The Sapphire Dress: This dress could become our fall uniform, and we mean uniform in the best possible way. An easy, simple shape, with details that elevate without overwhelming: a band collar, pretty tucks at the bodice, sleeves that gather softly at the cuff. In Peacock, with Acier coming later this fall.
The Molly Jacket: Through the years, Fog Linen Work has included a version of a classic work jacket in their fall lineup. Every year we love the new version and the Molly jacket is no exception. Short and sweet, Molly is fitted through the shoulders and fuller through the body, creating a very flattering silhouette. In Iris, this fall's version of a worker's blue, and Canari.
We have much more in store: beautiful blouses, a classic gather skirt in knockout colors, some easy pants in a couple of styles, and more dresses and coats. You can see the whole 2022 fall collection in our clothing section here.
If you're looking to accessorize, don't forget to check out our new scarves, leggings and socks to add a little flair to your wear. Bring on fall!
8 June 2022. Although we haven't lost our appetite for dinner, we may have lost our motivation to cook in a hot kitchen. This summer, our strategy is to look for foods that are fairly simple to throw together and don't require much in the way of turning on the stove.
We love these fresh and simple salads from one of our favorite cookbook authors, Anna Jones.
From chef and author Mina Stone, we'll be making this tomato salad with lemon, feta, and pistachios, which add a little zing, zap, and crunch to a summer go-to.
For an easy and flavorful summer dish, Yewande Komolafe's chicken and herb salad with nuoc cham looks delicious.
We'll also be trying the kale and quinoa salad from Deb Perelman @smittenkitchen, and although we may have to turn on the oven for a bit, it won't stop us from making her recipe for almond-crisped peaches.
We'd love to see what you're cooking and serving this summer. We hope you're finding our linens helpful in your kitchens and on your tables. And perhaps you're using our mango wood utensils, brass servers, and linen coated trays for your outdoor gatherings. Tag us on Instagram @shopfoglinen and show us how you're using Fog Linen Work.
25 May 2022. We love that nothing goes to waste in the production of our linen and our new washed linen cloth sets are a fresh take on how to use remnants. Made from remnant pieces that are a wee bit smaller than our kitchen cloths, these are durable, long-lasting, and come with a nifty cotton loop for an easy hang-dry. All edges are finished. They'll grow softer and more absorbent with every wash.
Perfect for tasks around the house, and certainly not limited to the kitchen, there are many ways to use a linen cloth. We've used them as placemats, napkins, for drying leafy greens, wiping down counters, appliances, and general clean-up tasks. You can use them as a towel or a wash cloth. They're great for wrapping fruit or bread to bring on a picnic and they also make beautiful gift wrap. What's not to love?
Packaged in sets of three, each set is a little different with a fun combo of colors, patterns, and textures.
We're offering them in two different sizes:
Set A = 13" x 26"
Set B = 17.5" x 23.5"
You can find the sets in the fabric section of our website.
10 May 2022. Summer is coming, and summer clothing is already here. It's making us very excited for warmer days! This season's collection is a lovely combination of simple design, beautiful detail and bold color. These are pieces you can easily wear on repeat and be comfortable all day.
Dresses are always our summer go-to, so we're going to mention a few of our favorites this season.
Eleanor Dress: With short cap sleeves, a round gathered neckline and a drawstring waist with ties at either size to customize your fit, this dress is cool and comfy. In Jane and Noisette.
Grace Dress: A small pointed collar and gathering at the bust line are the little details that make this dress really special. The a-line shape gives it lots movement and flow for summer weather. In Acier and Olive.
Rosa Dress: Simple and pretty, the Rosa dress has a round collar and delicate gathers at the high waist. Short sleeves gather at an elasticized cuff, giving them a bit of volume. In Iris and Wisteria.
Our other summer go-to? A blousy top over an easy pant or skirt. Here's what we'll be wearing as soon as the temps rise.
Isla Top: Great details like the delicate pointed collar and shirring across the shoulder make this top easy and dressy at the same time. In Iris, Natural, and White.
Evelyn Top: Gentle pleats at the neckline and a ribbon tie at the back of the neck make this top so pretty. In Pale Blue and Olive.
Thalia Tunic: A roomy top with barely-there sleeves to keep you cool. Easy over pants or a skirt, it can be worn tucked in or left out for a more casual look. In Iris, Flamingo, and Turquoise.
Abigail Pants: These long, full pants allow for ease of movement on hot days. Dressed up or down, these pants suit any occasion. In Acier, Black, and Sapphire.
We've got lots more summer in store for you, take a peek here!
15 April 2022. Just in! A fresh batch of our herringbone cotton bath towels, hand towels and washcloths, the ones we find ourselves reaching for again and again. If you're looking for a way to refresh your household textiles for spring, these towels are lovely and absorbent for the bath and super soft on skin.
We've always wondered where the herringbone weave comes from, and it turns out herringbone patterns are ancient, having been found in early Egyptian jewelry, Native American basket weaving, and Roman roads.
When it comes to fabric, herringbone refers to a specific type of weave: a broken twill pattern, which like the Roman roads, has a distinctive V shape. A herringbone weave is commonly found in wool and twill fabrics, but can be applied to any type of material. In our case, we use it for a variety of products from linen kitchen cloths to clothing to our cotton herringbone towels. We love the texture and pattern of a classic herringbone.
You can find all of our herringbone patterned items here.
29 March 2022. First days of spring and we're ready to change over our cozy winter menus to lighter, fresher fare. We're tying on our aprons and thinking quiche, which could be as simple as eggs, cheese, fresh herbs and a little green onion or dressed up with spring veggies like asparagus and peas. Quiche is pretty adaptable, you just need a good basic recipe for the filling and then you can add whatever you like to make it your own. If you've got a trusty homemade crust recipe, great, but we won't judge if you decide to use a store bought crust. You can also bake a quiche without a crust, just make sure to grease the baking dish well so that the filling doesn't stick to the pan. Here's an easy take on the crustless quiche from Bon Appetit.
We always recommend wearing an apron when cooking quiche (or anything obviously!) and we've got some lovely new colors to choose from here.
If you're looking for nice baking dishes for that spring quiche, we have a few suggestions from our sister store, Pod.
For a two person serving dish, we love the oven safe Poele Ceramic Pan or the handled Ceramic Pan.
For adorable individual servings, we recommend these Fluted Ramekins, which are safe for baking as well.
As for kitchen clean ups, you can find our kitchen cloths, like the one pictured above, here.
So get those ovens started and those eggs whipped up for a taste of spring!
24 February 2022. Our spring clothing is here, hooray! With hues right out of a watercolor paint box, we're finding these pieces both playful and pretty. Here's a list of what's striking our fancy.
Starting with an outer layer for cooler days, the Hana coat is the perfect topper for spring outfits. Simply cut in an a-line shape this coat makes a great light layer over pants or a dress. In Iris and Ivoire.
With so many lovely tops this spring, we're going to have to talk about more than one. First, the Ichika top. We love the delicate pleating down the front and the gathered sleeves. In Rose and Ivoire.
The Anna top in Iris and Natural has a band collar and shirring along the dropped shoulder that gives the shirt lots of volume. To be worn on repeat all season.
Details make the Rio shirt really fun. Featuring a v-neck with an inverted pleat and full sleeves that hit just below the elbow, there's lots of volume to this pullover top. In Blue Indigo and Lucas (navy with a grey stripe).
In the pants department, we've got the Robin pant, with an elasticized waist and a full leg that tapers to the ankle. Plays well with many tops. In Albatre and Ivoire.
The Sio pant with a full, wide leg that hits mid calf, wears like a pant and looks like a skirt. We adore the cropped length and the easy elasticized waist. In Acier, Black and Sapphire.
And what even is spring without a new dress? The Mio dress, with a band collar, pleated bodice, a-line shape and shirt tail hem looks great over pants or a skirt. Wear it over a light slip on warmer days. In Black and Ecru Beige.
This season our dress lengths are running long, giving you the option to shorten the hem if you wish. Got questions about sizing or fit? You can reach out to us here.
More spring styles, right this way.

18 November 2021. Dark, moody, cold: we've got that November-ish feeling in our bones. And we mean that in the best of ways, as with November comes a sense of anticipation about warm and cozy gatherings with friends and family.
Inspired by this photo of a good looking piece of pie with our brass dessert fork, we went on a quest for the perfect recipe. To us, this looks like a custard pie, and our search turned up a custard tart with cream and fresh fruit by Claire Saffitz. The ingredients are simple, the instructions pretty straight forward and we're going to give it a go!
If you're looking to add some sparkle to your holiday servings, our brass dessert forks are ready to grace your table. You can find them here, along with all of our brass ware.
Here's to wishing you a good November. May your gatherings be safe and peaceful, and may your pies be delicious.
